Patient Intake Coordinator/ Referral Coordinator Job Description Are you looking for a job where you will have the power to ensure the rehabilitation of patients in the communities that we provide services in? Theramedic Rehab is looking for a qualified Patient Intake Coordinator/ Referral Coordinator to assist in administrative/clerical tasks, scheduling new patients, and providing excellent customer service. Duties include but not limited to offering administrative support across the organization, to ensure quality patient-centered care that we have provided over the past several years. As an intake coordinator/ referral coordinator you will manage the registration process of patients as they start their therapy at our facility. To be successful as an employee you should have a pleasant personality, as this is also a customer service role. Multitasking and time management skills are essential for this position. Patient Intake Coordinator Responsibilities Answer, screen, and forward incoming phone calls and faxes to the appropriate personnel. Gather patient records and insurance information into our EMR system and verify eligibility and obtaining prior authorizations. Process patient paperwork, insurance, and payment with a high level of accuracy. Use knowledge of insurance carriers (example Medicare) and procedures that require waivers to obtain authorization if needed prior to appointment. Obtain recertification to ensure patient can get the proper level of treatment as directed by the Physical Therapist. Act as liaison between patients, physicians, insurance companies, and other healthcare professionals to assist and provide necessary information. Maintain an up-to-date and accurate database on all current and potential referring physicians. Maintain an up to date and accurate pending-scheduling list and log of all patients for pre-certification with patient's insurance company. Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, transcribing, and faxing patient paperwork or reports as requested Create a positive experience for every patient, every day by believing in and practicing the patient-centered experience. Patient Intake Coordinator Qualifications Extensive knowledge in dealing with insurance Flexible with task management to cover duties within the organization Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. fax machines and printers) Professional attitude and appearance Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise. Excellent organizational skills Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
